Happy 5 year Gotcha Day!!!

5 years ago from today, Kiah Hope RuiQing was placed in my parents arms for the very first time at the Holiday Inn hotel in Guiyang, Guizhou province. Kiah was 15 months old. It is so hard to believe that 5 years have past. Then again, it feels as though we have had Kiah forever. This little girl is such a joy and a blessing in our lives, we can't imagine not having her. When we went to China in 2002, we weren't sure what to expect. She was a very shy little girl who was not quite sure what was going on. We thank God every day for this little blessing. We also thank her birth parents for giving her a chance at a new life, CCAA for placing us with this beautifu little girl, CHI for their awesome support through the process and God above for matching us with the perfect little girl for our family.

Happy 5th Gotcha Day Kiah Hope RuiQing! We love you SO much sweetheart!

Here are some pictures from her little celebration we did tonight.

Mother/Daughter banquet & T-Ball

I have a few pictures to share from this past week. First on tuesday night, my Mom, Kiah and I along with my grandma's, Aunt Grace and Abbie, attended the mother/daughter banquet at my Grandma Rich's church. It was so much fun! Also it always brings back memories because 5 years ago, I went without my mom because she was in China getting Kiah!

On wednesday, Kiah had her first t-ball game! Check out her in her uniform! She's on the Sud-z Shop Mets! Her brothers and father are proud as they are BIG Mets fans! : )

Fieldtrips

Today was a day of fieldtrips. The 7th graders at Frewsburg, which includes Thad, were going to Old Fort Niagara and Niagara Falls for a fieldtrip yesterday. My Mom had been wanting to go back up there since it had been years since we'd been and Tage and Kiah wouldn't have rememered it anyways. So we drove the 2 hours and had a fieldtrip day. Old Fort Niagara was very neat. We went through the tour with Thad's class and it was very interesting. Only problem was that it was buggy up by Lake Ontario! We then stopped at the falls which were incredible as usual. As you can tell by the pictures, Kiah wasn't quite so sure about the walls. I don't think she's ever held onto me as tightly as she did yesterday at the falls! I thought the pictures turned out well.

"Swept Away"

We went to a Geoff Moore concert in Jamestown back in June 2003. He sang this beautiful song which he wrote for his daughter, Anna Grace, whom he and his wife adopted in 2000. He has since adopted Ashley Rose in 2004. I cried the first time I heard this song as it reminds me so much about Kiah. Also it reminds me of God's love for us and how he swept away all of our fears when He died on the cross so that we can spend eternity with Him. Here are the lyrics:

SWEPT AWAY
Written and performed by Geoff Moore

We would say your name
A hundred times a day
Like speaking words in faith
And with a mixture of
Hope and fear and trust
We prayed for the strength to wait
And dreamed of how we'd feel the day
You'd be in our arms and…

(chorus)
Swept away
Caught up in our love
Home to stay
You'll never be alone
You'll be amazed
At how much you are loved
Your life will never be the same
Once you're swept away

What once was just a dream?
Is now reaching up to me
And I hold her in my arms
Father thank you for the way
You held her all those days
That we had to spend apart
And now I see the impossible dream
Is holding me and I'm…

(chorus)
Swept away
Caught up in your love
Home to stay
I 'll never be alone
And I'm amazed
At how much I am loved
My life will never be the same
I've been swept away
